Portrait Photography with John Bonner
A one-day workshop providing an opportunity to try your hand at being a portrait photographer and subject.
Portrait photography is challenging because skills lie in being able to direct your subject while also handling lighting and camera set up. This workshop will help you to build confidence and trust between you and your subject.
In the first part of the workshop, we will explain some very basic lighting techniques using two studio lights while using either a white or black backdrop. Guidance will also be provided about how to get the best out of your subject in order to obtain a photograph you and the subject is happy with. Suggestions for poses and photographic styles will be offered.
During the second part. Participants will rotate roles until everyone has had an opportunity to be both a subject and photographer.
In the third part of the workshop, participants will choose a small number of images for post-production. These are then cropped and edited to provide a set of final images to take away. You will need to bring a USB stick, so you can take away your final images.
There is no need to bring any other photographic equipment to the workshop.
